Sometimes the world is dark and I just can't see

With these, demons surround all around to bring me down to negativity

But I believe, yes I believe, I said I believe

I'll stand on my own two feet, won't be brought down on one knee

I fight with all of my might and get these demons to flee

Hashem's rays fire blaze burn bright and I believe
Em

What's this feelin', my love will rip a hole in the ceilin'

I give myself to you from the essence of my being

And I sing to my god, songs of love and healin'

I want Moshiach now, time we start revealing

You're a slave to yourself and you don't even know

You want to live the fast life but your brain moves slow
G Bm
If you're tryin' to stay high, bound to stay low
A
You want God but you can't deflate your ego
G Bm
If you're already there, then there's nowhere to go
Em
If your cup's already full then it's bound to overflow
G Bm
If you're drowning in the waters and you can't stay afloat
A
Ask Hashem for mercy, and he'll throw you a rope
G Bm
You're looking for help from God, you say he couldn't be found

Searching up to the sky and looking beneath the ground

Like a King without his crown, you keep fallin' down

Tried to reach unto the heights and wound bound down on the ground
Em
Given up your pride and the you heard a sound
G Bm
Out of night comes day and out of day comes light

Nullified to the One like sunlight in a ray,

SL: Probably one of the best live performances
I got some pretty nice responses for my last cover of Digital Love:
—
“Pretty cool, i didn’t think it was possible doing a good daft punk cover with such a simple setup”
“Oh yeah! This is great. More of this kind of thing!”
“My favorite daft punk song! You killed it man!”
—
Which is cool cause it’s one of those songs that I tried to practice over the years, but couldn’t really find a way to ‘translate’ it well with a ukulele.
But this next song…
It’s really hard to hold a candle to.
More on that in a sec…
Often times, you hear bands live…
And, it’s just not the same as their studio recording.
Sometimes, it’s way, way worse.
(I’m looking at you, Weezer, Sublime, and 90% of singers and bands on SNL)
But it sort of shows their ‘true’ talent.
For example, I might listen to a song or album and think, “Damn, this is an impossible level of perfection.”
Then I listen to a live version and think “Oh shit, that’s what they sound like live? I could do that”
Granted, I probably can’t, but I least I feel I could…
Though some artists are truly amazing live:
Chance the Rapper, Rex Orange County, No Doubt
But this band produced a live album that was leagues ahead of their studio album.
It’s insane how good it is.
Do yourself a favor and listen to the album, “Matisyahu: Live at Stubb’s” for a near religious experience.
Here’s a link to the song I’m about to cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsFpUW48Tnc
The first thing you’ll notice is this guy who looks like Weird Al from “Amish Paradise”
For those who haven’t heard of Matisyahu, he was (not anymore) a Hasidic Jewish singer who performed an amalgam of rock/hiphop/raggae/beatboxing tied with orthodox jewish themes.
Something truly unique, and just damn good.
Even though I’m nowhere near his level, it’s still a great song I wanted to play.
So here’s your priority-access first look at my new cover of Matisyahu’s “King Without A Crown”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqLjOGR_VKE
Drop by with a like or comment.
No flash photography please.
You know I shun fancy things like electricity (fool)
Cheers,
Dylanyahu
